HB06-1360: A Bill Becomes a Law

To close this particular loop on HB06-1360…Governor Owens signed the bill into law on June 4th. Dr. Richard Duke (co-founder GlobeImmune and ApopLogic) spoke briefly at the enthusiastically charged and well attended signing ceremony on behalf of the life science sector. The law provides $2M for biotechnology development funding to Colorado universities and research institutions engaged in bioscience research. From my understanding funded research projects may be eligible for matching dollars up to $150K, applications will be submitted by university inventors to their respective technology transfer offices.

Rules for distribution of the funds must be established by September 2006, this according to the now law. We will be certain to keep an eye on this next critical step.
