Colorado, which ranks 14th on the accounting firm's list of biotech regions, was home to seven public biotech companies in 2005, the same as in 2004.
E&Y found growth in other areas:
- Market cap of public companies grew 9% from '04, to $2.4B
- Revenues rose 59%, to $281 million.
- Total assets were up 19%, to $862 million.
- Cash and short-term investments rose 26%, to $621 million.
The only negative was that the biotech companies posted net income of $132 million in 2005, that's a drop of 24 percent from a year earlier.
